OurCalculators.com ("we", "us", "our") builds free calculators for readers in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have, wherever you're visiting from. By using OurCalculators.com, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Calculator inputs

Every calculation on OurCalculators.com runs entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store or transmit anything you type into a calculator field. Your inputs never reach our servers.

1.2 Automatically collected data

Like most websites, we automatically collect limited technical information when you visit:

  • Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited and time spent on each
  • Device data: screen size and device type (desktop, mobile or tablet)
  • General location: country or region, inferred from IP address
  • Cookies: small text files described in Section 3, below

1.3 Information you provide

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the subject you choose, the calculator you name (optional) and your message. This is processed by Formspree, our third-party form handler, and used only to respond to your inquiry. The contact page also runs a Cloudflare Turnstile security check: Cloudflare receives technical signals such as your IP address and browser details to confirm you're a person and not a bot. Cloudflare states it cannot directly identify individuals from these signals and uses them only to detect and block bots. If you email us directly at admin@ourcalculators.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message, and use it the same way.

2. How we use your information

We use collected information to:

  • Operate, maintain and improve the Site and its calculators
  • Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it
  • Serve advertising, where advertising is active (see Section 4)
  • Respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form or by email
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud or technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. We use analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) to understand traffic and usage, and, where advertising is active, advertising cookies (Google AdSense) to serve ads. We don't use cookies beyond what's described here, and we don't use cookies to sell your personal information.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies won't stop any calculator from working, since calculations never depend on a cookie, but it may affect analytics accuracy or ad relevance.

4. Advertising

OurCalculators.com is set up to display advertising through Google AdSense. Advertising may not be active on every page, or at all, at any given time, and no calculator's availability or accuracy depends on whether an ad is shown. Where ads are served, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with the Site, pages viewed, session length, device type and general location. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date of your visit, not your name or other directly identifying information, and we don't combine this data with personally identifiable information.

You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Third-party services

We share limited information with the service providers who help us run the Site, each governed by their own privacy policy:

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, and we disclose it beyond these providers only where required by law.

7. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information under our control. No method of transmitting or storing data online is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Data retention

We retain analytics data for a maximum of 26 months. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry. We hold no calculator input data at all, since it never reaches our servers.

9. Children's privacy

OurCalculators.com is intended for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.

10. International visitors

Our content is written specifically for the US, UK, Australia and Canada, so calculators are built around each country's own rules and rates rather than a single generic version. Wherever you access the Site from, information may be processed in other countries where our service providers operate, including the United States, where Google, Formspree and Cloudflare are based. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with data protection laws that may differ from those in your own.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under one or more of the following laws. To exercise any of them, contact us via the Contact page.

United States: CCPA (California)

California residents have the right to know what personal data we collect, use and share; the right to request deletion of it; the right to opt out of its sale (we don't sell personal information); and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

United Kingdom: UK GDPR

If you're in the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your personal data, the right to object to certain processing, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

European Union / EEA: GDPR

If you're in the EEA, you have the same rights as above under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Australia: Privacy Act 1988

If you're in Australia, you can request access to and correction of personal information we hold about you, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we've mishandled it.

Canada: PIPEDA

If you're in Canada, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to challenge its accuracy, under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. You can raise a concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest (operating and improving the Site) and, where advertising is active, consent for advertising cookies. Because we hold very little personal information ourselves, most requests can be resolved quickly. Contact us and we'll confirm what we hold, if anything.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
